"To GOD Be The Glory"
"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; "To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary" (Psalms 63:1,2).
A name that says it all! it is for "women" of all ages, of course, we always have some gentlemen attending...they are observers who just can't help but join in the worship when the Spirit of God begins to move. We don't mind at all. Many of these are pastors observing what their ladies are being taught, which is only being a good shepherd...others come to help, to carry heavy
loads in and out...some are ushers, helping ladies to find seats...actually, they are very helpful!
For sure, this 3-day, God-Glorifying meeting is in the mountains...the "Smokies" they're most often called. America has some breathtaking mountains, rivers, wildlife, and The Smokies don't have to take a backseat to any of them!
We meet in this picturesque setting every last weekend in August to enjoy the beauty around us, to enjoy each other, but above all, we have one all-important focus: To behold God's power and His Glory!
Women's Mountain Retreat is most certainly a "retreat." Retreat is a signal to withdraw from the battle. That certainly is one of the definitions of WMR!
For three beautiful days we follow the example of Mark 6:31 when Jesus knows His disciples must have some rest! They had been called upon to ministry without a break, not to mention, having to bury their beloved John the Baptist. It had been a very tiring, very trying time, so the Savior took them apart to rest, "Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while;" for there were many coming and going, and had no leisure so much as to eat." God knows when His little children need to "come apart!"
WMR is a place to withdraw from the duties of life and be fed, encouraged and enjoy the good things of God so that we can return to our churches, homes and families full of fight, and full of Faith!
WOMEN'S MOUNTAIN RETREAT: "A Rest For The Weary!"
No, we aren't writing a piece on The Children of Israel, but on the women and men who will be singing, speaking and have different assigned ministries to share with us during our three glorious days of WOMEN'S MOUNTAIN RETREAT August 23, 24, & 25! It is a piece that speaks to the Scripture in Paul's final instructions to the church at Thessalonica. The Apostle and many of the new Christians in this city underwent persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ, yet, they continued to stand firm on these Truths: That Jesus is the only Son of the Living God Jesus was born of a virgin from Nazareth. At 30 years of age, He began His public ministry: Teaching, preaching, healing sick bodies and sick minds. Raising the dead.
At 33 this "Lamb of God" was crucified outside the gates of Jerusalem...nailed to a Cross, demanded by His own people, and carried out by Roman soldiers. Buried in a borrowed tomb, He rose by His own power three days later.
And, of course, just any day, Jesus will appear in the sky, in the east, and gather His children: we're going Home! It will all be over!!
So, it is important that those who minister at Women's Mountain Retreat be of the same mind. The prophet, Amos, asks a poignant question: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3).
Sarah Mason will be speaking
Savannah Blackburn & Bailey Williams will speak (My darling protégées)
Dr. Angeline Godwin will speak: Angeline spoke at WMR for the first time. The ladies absolutely adored her...they insisted she come back this year: I agree...what a Godly, lovable sister-in-Christ.
I am speaking in every service, every time the Holy Spirit bids me (don't you love it when you don't actually, "schedule" these moments...you just let them happen according to the will and purpose of the Spirit?) Me, too.
Then, there's Linda Hicks: I know she will introduce her songs as the she is led...then, she will open her mouth and this beautiful, mesmerizing voice will begin to sing. What a gift God has bestowed on my friend! Oh, that my voice
would make a song come alive like Ms. Linda!
Kyla Rowland & Deliverance will sing, but we will have some awesome help:
Jordan Dagenhart will sing some with us, and what a wonderful surprise!
This year we will be privileged to her the voice of Loren Harris: not only helping us, but rendering solos on some of those songs we love to hear him sing!
I'll be anxious to hear Jodi Sullivan and her trio sing "Jerusalem" once again:
And, then, the Grahams: what a joyful, Spirit-filled family group!
No, I haven't forgotten: Barry Rowland & Deliverance will be with us again this year at WMR! They will do what they do every time they stand to sing God's praises: They will sing beautifully under the power
and anointing of the sweet Holy Ghost!!
It will begin with New Deliverance singing our "National Anthem". Yes, they are our granddaughters, but, honestly, have you ever heard this precious Anthem sung any more moving, more beautiful!
And there's more.....yes, more. It takes many, many talented, Godly, willing workers for a conference like WOMEN'S MOUNTAIN RETREAT, and the Lord has so graciously sent us the best!
I have heard from many ladies: "Oh, I love the singing at WMR, but one of my favorite part of the music is "That Band!" What talent! And, or course, they're right: we have exceptionally gifted musicians: the kind of musicians you
usually only hear playing behind some of Gospel Music's finest artists; and just think...God sent them to bless our meetings. I can't thank Him enough!“
